MY STORY
Hello beautiful peeps. My name is Mira( or for closer friends Mimi ). I’m 30+ years old lost sole that through the years developed the “itchy feet” syndrome.
Growing up in ex Communist country like Bulgaria I had a lot of time to fantasized and dream about unknown destination. I was always trilled by stories and myths about far far lands, where everything looked and sound mega exciting. When I turned 25 I finally had the courage and strength to pack a little bag with most precious personal belongings and moved to London.( one of the best decisions in my life). I didn’t speak the language and couldn’t understand their cultural habits at first. But I made the decision to do my best and to learn as much as possible about every new culture I ever come across. I knew my destiny was to visit as many countries as possible and get to know the culture and the people out there.
I’ve been already to over 50 countries( included my home country and few micro countries like Monaco& Andorra), but for whatever reason I haven’t written a blog about it. English is not my first language and I always been super paranoid about that.
So you would probably ask: ” why now”?
Well the answer is very simple: It just feel right. I’ve met so many people that wanted to know the secret of my way of living and why I do what I do. I’ve heard so many time the question like “So you travel all alone?” “How do you afford all that?” “Are you not afraid?”
I’m hoping with this blog to inspire more people to believe in themselves and to take off on a life changing adventure helping them expand their comfort zone. If not at least I will get to share my story!
Get to know the real city
For me the best way to get to know a city is to live in it. Eat where local eats, walk where local walks and truly get to know at least one person from there . So far I've lived in London, Barcelona, New York(both Manhattan and Brooklyn), DC, Falls Church VA, Oakland CA, Cancun, Mexico city, San Miguel de Allende; Puerto Escondido.
Go off the beaten track
Despite the fact that I lived in one of the cosmopolitan cities I feel the happiest surrounded by nature. I would always pick a day hike in the mountains from a walk in the city. The more remote and isolated from humankind the better.
Enjoy a bit of adrenaline
I'm adventures by nature. I will try and do anything if you dare me. I've done skydive, bungie jump, paragliding, canyoning, back country hiking on my own, drove a bike down the dead road in Bolivia; eaten all kind of unusual food(alive and cooked)
